Tinder’s key feature is the ability to upload photos. Users will not be able to use the app to its full potential unless they have pictures.
If your Tinder photos aren’t uploading check your internet connection. Users with a poor internet connection will be unable to submit their photos to Tinder’s servers. Try uploading your photos using a WiFi network instead of your Mobile data connection.
In this article, I’ll go over all the reasons why your Tinder photographs aren’t uploading and how to fix that problem.
Why Your Tinder Photos Aren’t Uploading
Tinder is a popular mobile dating app used by millions of singles all over the world. According to Apptopia, Tinder gets around 66 million average monthly active users.
Due to the large volume of traffic, it is possible that Tinder servers are overloaded, or the server is down. When the server is overloaded it takes a lot more time to upload your photos and if the server is down your photos won’t upload.
In the next few sections, I’ll tell you why Tinder photos don’t always upload properly to the Tinder servers, as well as the solutions you may try to get that photo uploaded on Tinder.
Poor Internet Connection
The very first thing you should consider is your internet connection. I recommend uploading photos using a WiFi connection rather than mobile data for error-free uploads.
Uploading photos using a WiFi connection makes your upload much more secure and reliable. It also takes less time and the chances of getting an error are very low.
If you don’t have access to WiFi, find a location nearby like a Coffee Shop that offers free WiFi. Some coffee shops have really fast internet while others don’t. Make sure to ask other people about coffee shops that have fast WiFi.
You also need to keep in mind that images files are quite large especially images taken with modern smartphones and DSLR cameras. These image files could range from 5 MB to 22 MB so it will take a long time to upload such a huge file with a slow mobile data connection.
You need to check if your mobile data connection has a high upload speed. A good mobile data upload speed is around 1.5 Mbps or more. If your upload speed is less than that, chances are you’ll run into errors while uploading your photos on Tinder.
If your upload speed is good enough then move on to the next section.
Poor Connection to Facebook
Tinder connects to Facebook using the Facebook API. This is rather common among mobile app developers that use the Facebook login feature.
Once you sign up for a Tinder account, it will ask for your permission to connect to your Facebook account. After allowing Tinder access to your Facebook account, it will try to import the photos you selected from Facebook.
If you’re unable to import the photos you’ve chosen from Facebook, there’s a significant possibility that you’re experiencing an issue with Facebook.
When Facebook and Tinder request access to your images, you must select “Yes” to provide them access to your photos. But, if you’re getting the photo upload error, chances are that you’ve selected “No.”
If you selected No, Tinder will not have access to any of your Facebook information. This includes names, account details, and most importantly, photographs.
If that’s the case, you’ll need to grant Tinder and Facebook access to your photos. You can do it using the steps mentioned below.
Step 1 – Go to Settings.
Step 2 – Scroll down below and tap on Tinder.
Step 3 – Enable access to Storage and Camera.
Repeat the above steps for the Facebook app.
Step 1 – Go to Settings > Apps.
Step 2 – Tap on Tinder.
Step 3 – Tap on Permissions in App info.
Step 4 – Enable access to Storage and Camera.
Repeat the above steps for the Facebook app.
There’s no way to get pictures off from Facebook and onto Tinder if you don’t allow them access.
If this solution didn’t fix the issue, you’ll need to deactivate Facebook’s permissions and reconnect to the Facebook API.
Corrupted Image File
It’s possible that the image file you stored on your phone is corrupted. This indicates that the file did not save correctly on your phone or that there is a problem with the image file itself.
You can verify if there’s a problem with the image file by sending this photo to others or uploading it to other platforms like Twitter or Pinterest.
Even though this is a rare occurrence, corrupted files can be a factor when trying to upload a photo.
You can try uploading a different image to Tinder to check if the problem lies with your photo or Tinder itself. If Tinder doesn’t upload that photo, there’s a significant probability the image you’re looking at is a corrupted file.
Long Load Times
Tinder’s servers can take a long time to upload your photos especially when there is a lot of active users on the app. It’s not uncommon for your page to take a long time to load, especially if you’re uploading multiple images at once.
I’ll suggest you wait 15-20 minutes for all your photos to be uploaded. After waiting for 15-20 minutes, check if the photos have been uploaded. If not, try to close and reopen the app. You should receive a notification that Tinder has successfully uploaded your photos.
Due to heavy traffic on Tinder, it may take a little longer for your photos to upload in some cases. This is because there is a heavy load on the servers and it takes them longer to finish multiple ongoing tasks.
You need to be patient while uploading multiple photos. Don’t just delete your photo or upload another photo if it’s taking some time. Wait for 15-20 minutes and the photos should get uploaded.
My Tinder Photos Still Won’t Upload
If your Tinder photos still won’t upload, try uninstalling the Tinder app from your phone and re-installing it. There is a possibility that the Tinder app didn’t install properly or the installation file lacked a few key components which resulted in those errors.
Uninstalling and reinstalling the app makes sure that each and every component has been installed properly and you can securely upload your photos without running into any issues.
This will also enable you to cancel any third-party app access, such as Facebook, so you can start over from the beginning and set everything up properly.
Tinder Camera Roll Photo Failed to Upload
Whenever you run into issues, such as Tinder camera roll not updating your photo due to an error, it’s always annoying. There are several reasons why this issue could occur. I have tried to address some of them and how to fix those.
You should first make sure that both the Tinder and Facebook apps are up to date, and that your sync options allow both the apps to sync your data properly.
Next, you should check that Tinder has permission to access your Camera. If not, then you won’t be able to upload photos through the Tinder Camera roll. You can follow the method mentioned earlier in this article to grant Camera access to Tinder.
Lastly, make sure you’re signed in to the correct Facebook account that’s linked to your Tinder account. If you have the wrong account linked then you won’t be able to upload photos from the Tinder Camera roll. You can check your linked Facebook account by going to the Account Settings section on Tinder.
Tinder Age Verification Failed to Upload
Tinder Age Verify is a method in which Tinder checks your Photo ID to guarantee that you are over the age of 18 and that your profile picture and age match your ID’s picture and age. This is accomplished by taking a snapshot of your ID on the app when prompted, and your age is validated on the app within a few hours.
Currently, not all locations require age verification. However, Tinder is requiring this in more and more regions to keep users safe, so if you use Tinder and haven’t been asked to verify your age yet, keep an eye out.
Sometimes, due to glitches or technical errors, your age verification may fail to upload. In such cases, follow the simple, original method to get your age verified on Tinder.
1. Launch Tinder.
2. Age verification is necessary for chatting in locations where it is required: Select a match from your match list; have your ID available and tap Verify My Age.
3. In all other circumstances: On the home screen, a prompt will display; have your ID ready and tap on “Verify Your Age.”
You’ll be taken to a website where you can complete your age verification request by following the instructions and submitting your photo ID.
Your photo ID will be checked thoroughly and the process could take many hours. You will be notified once your photo ID has been reviewed, and you can check your status in the app.
Tinder accepts a wide range of photo IDs, so most users should be able to verify their pretty easily with the most common photo IDs like Driver’s License, Social Security Card, Passport, etc.
If Tinder isn’t uploading your photos you need to first check your internet connection, then check if Facebook has access to your account, and lastly you will have to check if your image files are corrupted or not.
Tinder is a dating app used by millions of singles all over the world. Photos not uploading is a common issue, and that’s nothing to freak about. I have provided numerous solutions in this article to help fix this issue.
Lastly, I recommend uploading one photo at a time so you can figure out if the issue lies with the app, the image file, or your internet connection.
